Things to know...

Are Dogs Allowed?

Yes! We are dog friendly. Elkin and Jonesville require that dogs be on a leash in the town limits. And we ask that you have your dog on a leash at all festival activities and events. Please check the requirements at local State Parks and other venues if you need to.

How do I get around the festival to all the events?

Elkin is a very walkable town and you'll find it pretty easy to get from one event area to another. You are encouraged to bring your mountain bike if you prefer to zip around. We will also be providing a free festival shuttle to get you from in-town hotels, and this shuttle will make stops on the hour at the Heritage & Visitor Center, Main Street Elkin, Elkin Municipal Park, Jonesville Greenway, Elkin Farmers Market and Satellite Parking area at Walmart during festival hours on Saturday only.

See the FREE Festival Shuttle Schedule here.

Where should I find parking?

You can find street parking in downtown Elkin and side streets as well as at several town parking lots (look for the purple signs with a "P" for parking); there is also downtown parking at the Heritage & Trails Visitor Center on Standard Street, Elkin Farmer's Market at the corner of Business 21 and Market Street, at Municipal Park in Elkin and at Elkin High School on Elk Spur Street and at Elkin Elementary School on Church Street ((both are a short walk to downtown Elkin); if the first annual NC Trail Days is HUGE and you need to find satellite parking, you'll find that at Walmart on Hwy 268 Bypass in Elkin (there is a complimentary shuttle stop at the lower end of the parking lot, look for the festival shuttle tent, shuttle stop is at approximately :10 after the hour from 9am til last shuttle stop of the evening - see festival shuttle schedule); in Jonesville, there is parking at the Greenway trail head on Plaza Street and at the parking lot beside Dollar General

Where can I get a water fill up?

NC Trail Days encourages all visitors to bring a refillable water bottle so that we can limit the use of single use plastic. We will have free water stations on Main Street in Elkin, at Municipal Park and a water fountain for fill up at the Heritage & Trails Visitor Center.

Where do I find a place to camp?

In addition to the many hotels, cabins and private rentals, there are several private campgrounds and two State Parks in and around Elkin. Please visit the "camping" page on this website for some informational links to campgrounds in Elkin, Wilkesboro, Boonville, Boone, Sparta and surrounding towns.

Is NC Trail Days a FREE festival?

Yes, you can attend the festival for FREE! and most of the events are FREE! A few of the events do require registration and an entry fee, and you can find that info on the Event Schedule page of this website.

Where can I eat during the festival?

In addition to the many restaurants in Elkin and Jonesville, you will find several restaurants in the downtown Elkin area and a beer garden with a food truck on Main Street on Saturday during the festival, and a low country boil during the Friday night Festival Gathering (you must buy a ticket for this event). Jonesville will have a food truck at their festivities on the Jonesville Greenway all day on Saturday.

Will beer and wine be available?

Yes, in designated areas only and if you are of proper age and with ID. You cannot bring your own alcohol to any festival events. You may purchase beer and wine at the Gathering on Friday night, on Saturday in the beer garden on Main Street and at the Saturday night concert at the Foothills Arts Council. You can also enjoy a cold beverage at several local restaurants and pubs.

Where can I find maps and festival schedules and other info?

We will have info tables at the Gathering on Friday night at Elkin Municipal Park and on Saturday at the Heritage & Trails Visitor's Center at 257 Standard Street in downtown Elkin; we will also have roving Festival Ambassadors all around Elkin on Saturday in festival T shirts who will cheerfully answer your questions and point you in the right direction. Look for their "Ask Me!" buttons and ask them anything!
