Yadkin River Clean Up
Yadkin River Access - Ronda
Yadkin Riverkeeper volunteers will do a paddle and clean up on the Yadkin River from Ronda to Crater Park in Elkin from 11 AM - 5 PM on Friday, June 5. Volunteers with boats will drop them off at the Ronda access area between 10:30 - 11:30 and meet at Crater Park for a free lunch at Noon. YRK will provide boats at no charge for volunteers that need them. Volunteers without boats should meet at Crater Park at Noon for lunch as well. All volunteers will be shuttled from Crater Park to Ronda after lunch with the River clean up launching at 1 PM.

Tour de Trail Days Cycle Ride

Tour de Trail is a 40 Mile bicycle road ride from Elkin High School to Stone Mountain State Park. Following some of the MST trailback to Elkin, the tour includes a stop at Carter Falls. Traveling aid station and sag support. Gather at starting point from 8:00am-8:55am, departs at 9:00am

Stone Mountain Hill Climb / 5k Trail Race
Stone Mountain State Park
The hill climb trail race will be held at Stone Mountain State Park, Saturday, June 6 at 9 am. It is a heavy 5K at 3.2 miles. The race starts at the Lower Parking Lot on a gravel road. After 0.4 miles you pass through the historic Hutchinson Homestead. The course follows the Stone Mountain Loop Trail to the upper falls, a beautiful 200 ft. granite waterfall. Climb about 200 steps and continue uphill through switchbacks to the summit at 2,305 ft. You'll be rewarded with an expansive view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Tree Climbing Demonstrations

Bob Wray will be demonstrating the art of double rope recreational tree climbing and the knots associated with this technique. He will discuss the equipment needed and the requirements to be a "rec" climber. Plus he will have a few stories from his 20 year career! Bob will be located west of the bridge in the large Sycamore Tree- across from Galloway Memorial Episcopal Church.
